Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology was established in the year 2016 with B.sc (M.Z.C).Since the establishment of Microbiology Department has acquired all the laboratory Equipment with well infrastructure.

Objectives of Department :

The main objective of our department is to excel the students in the field of Microbiology and familiarize the students to learn advanced concepts in Microbiology.

•          In addition with regular classroom teaching,the Department of Microbiology provides innovative teaching methodologies like Flipped classes, student center learning, Peer group learning, using ICT tools, OHP, audio visual learning’s, seminars and guest lectures by eminent resource persons, field trips, educational tours etc..

•          Department encourages the students to participate in National seminars,Webinars, Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, AIESEC,CCIP, TSAT Nipuna Super student Championship, Student study projects, quizzes etc..

•          Department focussed on the students to learn laboratory skills.

•          Department inculcating research knowledge and interest to the students.

•          Department also conducts remedial   classes and takes much care about the health and hygiene of the campus students.

•          Department established Microbiology Higher educational cell.As a part of Higher education inculcating knowledge and providing resources.

•          Department established Microbiology library along with College Head library and encouraged the students to get PG seats in central universities and reputed Universities.

•          Our B.Sc MZC first batch 2016-2019 students are pursuing PG Microbiology, Biochemistry in Central University of Kerala.

•          Department is successfully going with 100% passed students in Microbiology subject from 2016-2020.

➢     Microbiology has generated a lot of career opportunities in the field of research and academic purpose.

➢     A degree and postgraduate in Microbiology has lot of career in teaching(Colleges/Universities),Junior and Senior research fellowships,Research post in ICAR,CCMB,CSIR labs.

    ➢     Microbiologist post in dairy industries, breweries, food Processing Beverage industries,

Industries, pathology labs, agriculture, quality assurance divisions in industries.

➢     Self Employed (Establishing small scale industries - production of non alcoholic fruit beverages, mushroom production).

➢     M. Sc Microbiology is the master degree of microbiology. Microbiology has good scope in India and abroad.

    ➢     Microbiologists has opportunity to work in different hospitals and clinical laboratories

➢     Microbiologists have many opportunities in R&D departments in various pharmaceutical companies.
